Convince My Boss letter (corona edition)

Dear Boss,.png

Is the small business you work for fumbling in the dark when it comes to navigating team dynamics during a crisis, but not sure if there is anything YOU can do about it?

I shared an earlier version of the “Convince My Boss” letter last year, but as we all know things have changed since then. I felt it was appropriate to release this revised version for those who are looking on as their employers struggle with leading through crisis.

It’s not a knock on anyone because let’s face it, who here has experience in leading a team through a pandemic like this? (unless you are 100+ years old or have worked in Asia, put your hand down)

So, if you think the small business you work for could use some help but you’re not sure how to go about making that happen, don’t worry. I got you.

I’ve created this sample letter/email/script that will make it easier for you to have a conversation with your boss about strengthening the work culture and keeping the team together during this time. Simply copy and paste, then email your boss with a catchy subject line like “Navigating the Team Through Covid” or “How We Can Be Stronger 2020” and you are that much closer to improving the work culture for everyone!

(PS- let me know how it goes!)

Sample Email:

Hello (BOSS NAME),

I know these are crazy times for the entire team and I would love to be involved in the solution to helping things run more smoothly. This is an important time in the evolution of our work culture, and there are resources out there to not only get us through but also for us to become stronger in the months and years ahead.

Now that we are working differently, we might benefit from some organizational help! Designing our workplace to be somewhere that keeps the team connected and inspired will increase productivity and make our customers and team happier.

This takes planning and effort, but we are so busy dealing with the changes we have been forced to make and just keeping our heads above water. So what can we do? We can outsource help, and I have the perfect person in mind!

Wendy Conrad, founder of Your Happy Workplace, is a great resource that can help us to set up our workplace for success during this time and beyond. She has an amazing one-month program and when we are done working together, we will have a custom action plan based on ten categories (including Communication, Hiring/Onboarding, and Workplace Wellness). This plan will help us step up the work culture, increase production, and help make (COMPANY NAME) stronger and better equipped to move through this time.

Wouldn’t it be great if we had the tools to work more efficiently and to stay connected while working from home ?

It will be an investment of our time and money, but it will pay off in the long run and is a valuable opportunity for our business. I really think it makes sense and I would love it if we could work with Wendy.

You can learn more by visiting Wendy’s website at www.YourHappyWorkplace.com or she would be happy to schedule a free 30 minute consult call with us to talk about our specific situation and to answer all of our questions.

Wendy currently has special pricing for the one-month program, but that won’t last forever so we should get in touch with her soon!

Thank you for your time and I hope we can chat about this more.

Sincerely,

YOU, employee of the year

Wendy Conrad
