How to Be Boss of the Year in 5 Minutes!

Ok, I will admit that becoming boss of the year is going to take a bit more than 5 minutes. Like creating a healthy work culture, it will take some time and it’s an ongoing process.

But this is a tip that DOES only take 5 minutes, something that every business owner can do, and if you do it on a regular basis then get ready to see some real changes.

It’s a simple thing and it's a great place to start if you want to make a difference in your work culture.

Take 5 minutes out of your day to ask one of your team members one of the following:

How is your day going?

What fun things do you have planned for the weekend?

Tell me about your highs and lows for the week.

Then LISTEN.

L-I-S-T-E-N without thinking about what you are going to say next or how you have to send out that group email before the day is over.

Ask them, stay present, and listen.

Another great questions to ask is "How can I help you today?"

Finding out how you -as a team director, business owner, or manager- can help employees do their job better is one of the signs of a true leader.

If you make it a goal to do this every day for one week, making sure to chat with everyone on your team at least once, I would be surprised if you don’t see immediate changes.

When your team feels like you genuinely care, then feelings of trust, commitment, and loyalty are fostered. And it just takes 5 minutes.
